Urea fertilizer is a grain product that contains *6% nitrogen, which is more than any other commercial solid nitrogen fertilizer.
The chemical composition of urea in this product is the same as animal urine. This substance is completely soluble in soil solution, but it must be converted to ammonia and nitrate before further use by crops. When the soil is warm enough for bacterial activity, urea is rapidly converted to ammonia products. The reaction of urea consumption may be slow in cold weather.
Urea is a good fertilizer to use before planting. It should not be used in large quantities and at any time close to the germination of seeds or plant roots, because the bacteria in the soil quickly convert urea into urea compounds, which can be damaged if they come into direct contact with seedlings and plant roots.
